Since 1983, the Oklahoma Engineering Foundation has hosted the Oklahoma MATHCOUNTS program. Pooling resources from engineering and other STEM-minded industries, OEF has been able to engage over 15,000 students in this upper-level middle school math competition. Countless thousands have benefited from the MATHCOUNTS materials made available to every middle school in Oklahoma.
Coaches can be either teachers, math enthusiasts, or parents! Knowledge of mathematics is helpful, but not required. Resources from many sources are available to help coaches with a mathematics understand at any level. All you need is a willingness to help! Coaching workshops are offered annually in the fall in both Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
The state of Oklahoma is divided into 5 regions. The regional competitions are typically held in February.
Orange - Central Oklahoma Region
Blue - East Central Region
Yellow - Eastern Region
Pink - Northwestern Region
Green - Southwestern Region
The state competition is held in March, and alternates between Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Winners of the state competition are eligible to compete in the national MATHCOUNTS competition held in May at various locations around the United States.
